Ms. Kucera's art students have been busy this semester making art in the service of others. Sculpture students created a recycled plastic bottle installation in the front hallway of the school, using approximately 600 plastic water and soda bottles that were recycled in the school recycling cans over one month's time. The sculpture, and signs within it, illustrate the small percentage (approximately 35%) of bottles recycled versus bottles sold in the school building. An installation is a temporary artwork, often in a public place, which draws attention and engages the viewer by altering the space. We hope that our sculpture, and posters around the school, helped encourage more students and staff to recycle their plastic bottles!
