RUNNING START

Interested in earning college credit while working towards your high school diploma? Running Start may be a great opportuity for you!

Created by the state Legislature, Running Start allows qualified high school juniors and seniors to enroll tuition-free in college courses as part of their high school program of study at Big Bend Community College or Wenatchee Valley College. Books, supplies, lab fees, and transportation are the responsibility of the student.

Running Start students who attend either of our local community colleges full time both their junior and senior years, may be able to graduate with a general 2-year degree such as the Associate of Arts and Sciences - DTA. However, this requires careful planning on the student's part from the beginning of their time in Running Start.

For more information on the Running Start Program, view the links below and schedule an appointment with your school counselor to find out how to qualify.

TECHNICAL SKILLS CENTER INFORMATION

Technical Skills Centers are STEM based regional centers emphasizing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). STEM subjects are at the heart of a wide variety of jobs and professions requiring essential problem solving skills. STEM skills centers not only build scientific and engineering expertise, but also focus on creativity, innovation, collaboration, communication skills, and critical thinking. Technical skills centers are an extension of our high school located at an off-campus training site. Enrollment at technical skills centers provide an opportunity for students aged 16-20 and/or in 11th or 12th grade to receive highly technical job training, get a jump-start on post-secondary education, apprenticeships, and helps prepare students for immediate entry-level employment. For more information on Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center or Wenatchee Valley Technical Skills Center programs, view the links below and schedule an appointment with your school counselor to discuss whether a skills center enrollment is an appropriate placement for you!
