In second grade we focus on becoming fluent readers while improving our comprehension skills. Second graders also becoming competent mathematicians learning time, money, and addition and subtraction. In science and social studies students explore our community around them. You can help your child be successful by making sure they get enough sleep and reading every night.
CONGRATULATIONS to our employees of the year! Our school counselor, Amy Barnett, and para educator, Greta Williams, were honored at a district event. We are so proud of their hard work, commitment, and desire to serve our amazing students at Mountain View!
Mountain View had a fun and successful literacy night in December! Students and families came dressed in warm PJ's and had a cozy night listening to stories and making crafts. We had over 150 students and families attend the event along with 20 staff members! Students followed a map and selected three stories and crafts for the evening. There were classics like The Grinch That Stole Christmas and Polar Express, as well as new winter stories. Students and families also received gift bags containing a book, water, crackers, cookies, and an apple. Thank you, Double Diamond, for donating 200 apples! A special thank you to Mrs. Durfee-Wells for organizing the annual event as well as staff members who read books and taught special crafts. It was a fun evening for everyone!
