Facilities

The school is a wonderful facility that offers students in preschool through 3rd grade many opportunities. Mountain View is under construction with the addition of a large gymnasium,  additional bathrooms and community access.  We expect completion of this project in November of 2017.  In addition our students enjoy our cafeteria, music room, enrichment room, and library . The outdoor facilities include a play area, a brand new play equipment structure and large playfields. Eight portable classrooms have been added to the campus to accommodate the growth in the Quincy School District.  We are currently remodeling our previous Junior High building to open as Ancient Lakes Elemetnary in Fall of 2019.  At that same time, our Quincy school district sixth, seventh, and eighth graders will move into our old high school building as Quincy Middle School and our high school students will move into a beautiful new Quincy High School complex just north of Mtn. View.

In addition to the daily classroom programs, the Mtn. View facility is sued by local community groups for after school activities. The excellent condition and maintenance of the building reflects the sense of pride our staff, parents, and students feel for their school.

2016-17 School Improvement Goals Aligned with Quincy School District Foundational Strategies:

Goal 1 – All teachers will increase or strengthen their use of research based instructional strategies that arealigned with standards.  Specifically, we will increase our implementation of Marzano learning goals and scales as described in WA state TPEP criteria 1.1. In addition, we will observe and track our use of Project GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition & Design) strategies and our improvement in using learning goals and scales.

Goal 2 – Mtn. View staff will increase the actionable use of SBA data to prioritize standards and check for improvement based on interim assessment and classroom based data checks. We will investigate how grades K-2 can support 3rd grade success on SBA. We will use the continuous improvement cycle to follow up on decisions and see if adjustments are effective.

Goal 3 – In order in increase amount of time focused on learning and increase physical and emotional safety, we will work to review and refresh our schoolwide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support system and provide targeted support for areas of concern.

Student Achievement & Growth Goals:

It is our belief that focusing on the three goals above will impact our student achievement and student growth.  Mtn. View will have 10% more students proficient on SBA Math and ELA assessments in 2017 over their 2016 scores. In addition, 100% of second and third grade students will show growth from fall 2016 to spring 2017 on NWEA Measures of Academic Progress tests in Math and Reading, with 50% making more than one year’s expected growth.

Opportunities for Parents and Community

Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in a variety of ways and activities. We recruit parents to volunteer in classrooms, the library, the office, or to help with special events. Orientations are held to provide training for new volunteers in working with students and school equipment.

Our Parent Volunteer committee organizes popcorn, student picture days, help with field day, and do a large fund raiser which sponsors field trips and special programs for our students.
